How to Calibrate the Hipot Tester?

The hipot tester is also called the electrical breaking gas edge strength tester or the dielectric strength measuring instrument. It is a new method to use ultra-low frequency and high voltage to test the withstand voltage of power cables.

In the test process of the hipot tester, the single-chip automatic control circuit, automatic conversion, and automatic data processing are used to complete the withstand voltage test, leakage current and insulation resistance test at one time, which is especially suitable for automatic production lines. The instrument can intuitively, accurately, quickly and reliably test the breakdown voltage, leakage current and other electrical safety indicators of various objects under test, and can be used as an AC (DC) voltage source to test the performance of the original device and the whole machine.

Hipot testing

Calibration method of the hipot tester:

1. Equipment required for calibration

A voltmeter with a range of 0 to 10 (kV) and an accuracy better than 1%.

The range is 0~100(mA), and the accuracy is better than 1% ammeter.

Load resistance 50k/500k power 2~20(W).

2. AC voltage calibration

Set the hipot testers to a single withstand voltage test state, and the timing indicator light does not light up.

Connect the calibration voltmeter to the output terminal of the instrument, press the start button of the instrument, adjust the voltage adjustment knob to make the reading of the calibration voltmeter reach the required value, and check whether the displayed number of the instrument voltage display window is consistent with the calibration table, otherwise The corresponding potentiometer on the printed board should be adjusted.

3. DC voltage calibration

Set the instrument to the single insulation resistance test state, and the timing indicator light does not light up. The standard voltages are set to 250V, 500V, and 1000V respectively, and each gear is calibrated separately.

Connect the calibration voltmeter to the instrument, press the start button of the withstand voltage tester to see if the voltage reading is consistent with the calibration table, otherwise adjust the corresponding potential on the printed board.
